Parliament for Dhiggaru constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon will remain steadfast 'no matter how many times he is wrongfully jailed, his wife Mariyam Leeshiya has said.
Faris was accused of using the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) flag and logo at a press conference held with fellow members of the joint opposition and faction loyal to his father, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom from the PPM, after he had been removed from the party's registry, following which the Criminal Court sentenced him to four months and 24 days in prison at on Wednesday.
Following her husband's conviction, Leeshiya took to twitter and highlighted that no matter how many times he is slammed with various such unjustified prison sentences, that he will remain steadfast.
While Leeshiya has taken the matter to twitter, Aminath Masha, wife of MP for Dhangethi constituency Ilham Ahmed had also taken to twitter, writing that innocent children are pleading in their endurance to spend some time with their jailed fathers in complete freedom. Masha asked in her tweet whether anyone hears their pleas.
While Masha has tweeted this, her husband MP Ilham has been in detention since February.
