The capital city Male’ is without doubt, a crammed city and in this crammed city are observed several different lifestyles, including that of the rich, and the ones who are less fortunate.

Local news station Raajje Television had this Ramadan, initiated a programme that revolves around the lives of such poverty-stricken families. The circumstances they are living under and the hardships they face, were keenly observed under this programme, a production of Ahmed Siraj.

“Mives Dhivehin” featured a total of three families throughout the fasting month and discovered the distressing circumstances faced by mothers with ailing children, some disabled and cared for under difficult living situations.

While the station set out in search for families in desperate need for a helping hand, a ton had surfaced, and RaajjeTV in coordination with Muni Home Care, put in its best efforts to lend an aid or relief for the poverty stricken families.

While the stories of all bereaved families had stirred sympathy among many hearts, a lot of generous strangers had donated a whopping total of MVR 265,000 for three of the families under condition of anonymity.

RaajjeTV had on Saturday, officially handed over cheques and household furnishings with the kind wishes of Muni Home care to teary-eyed mothers who have been fighting poverty for endless days.

RaajjeTV’s Head of Corporate Affairs Aminath Reesha had handed over funds to three families featured in the program.

Although the distraught families who had accepted RaajjeTV’s donation had expressed their immense gratitude, words were not needed to clarify the tears of appreciation brimming their eyes.

The families were gifted household furnishings worth MVR 95,000 to MVR 100,000 from Muni Home Care.

Recipients of the funds and gifts said that RaajjeTV’s generous donation will bring ease to their several pending expenses, going on to express their gratitude to the station and those who donated.
