The deadline for opportunity to apply for scholarships conferred by the Maumoon Foundation at the Garden City University in Bangalore, India, has been extended.
Applications for the 10, part-funded scholarships were initially to close on the 21st of June and has since been extended to 03:00 p.m. on Sunday.
According to the Maumoon Foundation, the 10 scholarships are for various Bachelors in science fields including Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Bachelor of Physiotherapy as well as Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer Application, Bachelor in, Masters of Tourism and Travel Management.
The opportunity was opened 135 days after its founder and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was arrested under the State of Emergency which lasted 45-days.
The Criminal Court has since convicted the statesman on charges of obstruction of justice following his refusal to handover his mobile phone to officers of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) at the time of his arrest. Gayoom is doing time for one year, seven months and six days in incarceration.
