Newly developed road at Velana International Airport opens
The road measures up to 1200 meters
The road will only be used for airport transfers from the air taxi terminal and other such transfers from VIA
Hulhumale' Link Road which is ready to be tarred, will be opened to the public once completed

The newly developed road at Velana International Airport (VIA) has been opened on Wednesday.

An official from VIA, said that the road was opened southward of the runway being currently used at the airport and that the length of this road measures up to 1200 meters.

The road will stretch from the east to west of Hulhule’ island and will only be used in airport transfers from the air taxi terminal and other such transfers from VIA.

However, when the development project of the Hulhumale’ Link Road is completed, it will be opened for public use according to VIA.

While the newly developed road in Hulhule’ island has been opened, the latest work in the Link Road being constructed from Hulhule island linking it to Hulhumale’ is underway.

Authorities had handed over the construction and development of the Link Road to Hunan Engineering for USD 24 million (MVR 370 million).
