RaajjeMV has received information that Baa atoll Kamadhoo council Vice President Ahmed Sajid had found out of his suspension from the police, days after LGA suspended him.
Responding to queries posed by RaajjeMV, Sajid said that he was unable to access the Government E-Letter Management System and that he had notified the Local Government Authority (LGA) as well as the National Center for Information Technology along with the island council to bring a solution to this matter.
Sajid said the LGA had suspended him without discussing the matter while he was not in office, adding that he was informed of his supension when Eydhafushi police officers inquired him on why he had not handed over the key to the office yet. Sajid said he told the police that he had not been notified of his suspension, after which the officers then gave him the notice of his suspension.
Prior to his suspension, Sajid had requested the LGA to provide a solution for the lack of services while in office, including the lack of a printer and other office supplies.
The LGA had addressed the notice of suspension on the 31st of May. His suspension is due to his failure to elect a new council President even after the authority informed him to do so twice. The notice highlighted that a president must be elected within 14 days after the position becomes vacant.
Sajid was suspended for a three-month hiatus with no pay. During this time, he will not be permitted to represent the council through any means.
