Member of Parliament for Kendhoo constituency Ali Hussain has said that residents of outlying atolls are forced to bathe in sewer water under President Abdulla Yameen’s development strategy.

Criticizing the current government’s development strategy, MP Hussain took to twitter early Saturday morning writing that the government had dismantled a decade-old mosque to build a winter park and that while the government is proceeding with developing theme parks across the capital city, children in the outlying islands are having to bathe in sewer water.

In the tweet typed out in Dhivehi, Hussain wrote that the government’s list of priorities has been disarrayed and that it has failed to bring its development strategy to the outlying islands.

Highlighting that citizens have been obliged to reside in Male’, Hussain wrote that in the government of the joint coalition, a solution will be brought to those having to live in crammed situations, residency will be assured to citizens and citizens will not have to plead for a roof to sleep under.

President Abdulla Yameen had appealed on citizens to move to the capital city since the phase II area is being developed in capital city’s suburban district Hulhumale following which many have expressed their discontent, saying that the government is attempting to further jampack an already crammed city.

While the MP has taken the matter to twitter, the opposition coalition has continually been expressing their worries over the government’s engrossment in swathing the capital city in it’s development strategy at absurd costs without ensuring the basic services warranted to residents of the outlying islands.
