Criminal Court has given Waleeda Waleed, president of Jumhooree Party (JP)’s women’s league, five days to appoint lawyers to represent her in the charges raised against the former actress.
The former actress was charged with obstructing a law enforcement officer at an anti-government rally calling for the implementations of the initial Supreme Court ruling released on the 01st of February releasing detained high profile political figures in the political sphere and the reinstating of opposition Members of Parliament.
While the first preliminary hearing in Waleeda’s case was held on Sunday, she had asserted her wish to proceed in the presence of a legal representative following which the Criminal Court had given her five days to appoint a lawyer.
The president of JP’s women’s league has been arrested on multiple occasions at several protests has also been subject to police brutality following which she had to seek treatment from hospital at times.
