Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that reports of fever an influenza is still high with over 9,000 people being treated for fever last week.

In a press statement on Monday, HPA stated that 9,050 were treated for fever last week and 9,710 were treated the week before that.

HPA warned that influenza is still spreading at a high rate and that most people who have been tested are mostly positive for influenza A.

The Agency said that steps have been taken to provide information and medication at hospitals to treat the disease.

HPA also advised fever-stricken individuals to use a handkerchief to cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing, and not to discard used tissues in open areas.

The Agency also advised the public to get vaccinated as well as to practice proper hygiene by washing their hands with soap and to avoid crowded areas.

The public were also urged not to bring children, the elderly, and pregnant women when visiting the hospitals as well as avoid unnecessary hospital visits altogether.
