Book of condolence for late Dr. Bari opened by MNU to the public
Dr. Majeed joined the MNU as a lecturer on the 22nd of March 2012
Islamic Ministry also opened a book of condolence
The book by MNU is open for signing until the 31st of May
Book signing will be open from 10:00 a.m to 02:00 p.m every day til the 31st of May

A book of condolence opened by the Maldives National University (MNU) for the late Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Bari, the country first Islamic Minister and the first head of The Institute of Holy Quran, has been opened to the public on Sunday.

The book which was initially opened on the 24th of May, is open for signing until the 31st of May.

Book signing will be open from 10:00 a.m to 02:00 p.m every day til the 31st of May at the main office of the MNU.

Dr. Majeed joined the MNU as a lecturer on the 22nd of March 2012.

Along with the book of condolence by the MNU, the Islamic Ministry had also opened a book of condolence for the late Former Minister.

The former Islamic Minister during Mohamed Nasheed's administration, Dr. Bari was in Sri Lanka when his health suddenly deteriorated and he was found unconcious on the floor of his temporary room in Colombo. Doctors had said that he had suffered complications due to a stroke and was placed in a medically induced coma. He was put on a ventilator in his last few days before he paseed away on the 22nd of May at the age of 55.

Dr. Bari was also an active member of the opposition movement until his last days and is the first Maldivian to earn a doctorate in Tafsir and Ulum al-Quran. Dr. Bari studied at the Islamic University of Al-Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
