Driving license has been issued to 746 individuals under the one-day driver's license program named 'Ehlakin Mashah License' conducted by Maldives Transport Authority on Sunday.
According to th Economic Ministry, over 1,394 application forms had been submitted under the license program over the weekend and that 746 licenses were issued for land transport.
The program includes car and pick-up licenses in addition to motorcycle license. However, since tests for four wheel drives were held in the region between Huravee building and the Friday Mosque, participants faced difficulties due to the limited space.
The application additionally requires applicants to fill in personal information such as the usernames of their Instagram and Facebook, as well as contact details for their Viber and Whatsapp.
For this reason, many have raised question whether the government is collecting citizen's social media information for the upcoming Presidential Election.
