Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that all the flats built during the current government were planned projects of his administration.

Speaking on Facebook Live on Saturday, the opposition leader said that President Abdulla Yameen had attempted to build flats between the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018 and compared their designs to pigeon coups.

He said that President Yameen had planned to build 16 25-story towers with 550 square feet two-room apartments but that the government is fooling people into believing that the flats will actually be built.

He also said that the housing units to be built by government-affiliated companies has also stalled since its announcement.

The self-exiled leader of Maldivian Democratic Party has been using social media as part of his campaign to win his party’s ticket for this year’s presidential election.
