The China-Maldives Friendship Bridge is estimated to cost USD 198 million and USD 113 million has been granted as free aid from China, says Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
In a tweet on Thursday, Minister Muizzu compared the Male’-Hulhumale’ bridge to the Shindagha Corridor Project in Dubai which costs USD 1.36 billion.
Muizzu said that Shindagha Bridge, a part of the project, is 295 meters and costs USD 107 million while the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge is 1.39 kilometers.

In a previous tweet, he said that the installation of all the bridge deck beams from the Hulhule’ side has been completed and the Male’ side approach deck will be connected to the main pier by the end of May.
The project is progressing as per schedule, he added.
