WHO launches this year's World Health Assembly
The assembly which began on Monday is to proceed till the 26th of May
Maldives Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Dr. Hala Hameed is to represent Maldives in this year's assemby

The World Health Organization's (WHO) 71st World Health Assembly has begun.

The assembly, which is held annually, is ongoing in Geneva, Switzerland this year and is partaken by 194 members of the WHO, along with top officials of the Ministry of Health and other permanent missions in Geneva.

The assembly which began on Monday is to proceed until the 26th of May.

Maldives Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Dr. Hala Hameed is to represent Maldives in this year's assemby.

Maldives Health Ministry's permanent secretary Khadeeja Abdullah is included in the Vice Presidents partaking in the assembly.

As part of the celebrations on the WHO's 70th anniversary this year, the organization staged events to promote health in Geneva on the 20th of May including a walk event titled "Walk the Talk" which was open to all ages.
