Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s national campaign site located in capital city Male' has officially been allocated for the events for former President Mohamed Nasheed's campaign.

Azeeza Umar, a prominent figure who had served the state for many years, had launched the opening of the MDP campaign site located infront of Artificial Beach in Henveiru ward of Male' as the official campaign site for "Jazeera Raees".

After launching the site, Member of Parliament for North-Hithadhoo constituency and Nasheed's campaign manager Mohamed Aslam said that campaign activites will further be invigorated after the opening of this site, adding that Nasheed has spoken to residents of over 70 islands in his campaign effort.

Aslam appealed on all opposition members to partake in the upcoming prmary election slated for the 30th of May.

"With the swift speed our campaign activities are progressing with, President Abdulla Yameen will not be able to catch up with us" said Aslam.

Speaking at the launching event, Member of Parliament for North-Maafannu constituency Imthiyaz Fahmy said that President Yameen and state leaders even talking about Nasheed is proof that he will be able to run for presidency. 

Imthiyaz also said that it is of utmost importance that members of the opposition cast their votes for Nasheed in the upcoming primaries.

Nasheed also spoke to those at the event through video conference.

This is the second campaign site to be opened thus far in Nasheed's "Jazeera raees" campaign which translates to "Island President".
