They are accused of conspiring to overthrow the government
Justice Hameed, along with Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed, was sentenced to one year, seven months and six days in jail last week

Hearings in the terror charges raised against Supreme Court Justice Ali Hameed, Dhiggaru constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoona and Dhangethi constituency MP Ilham Ahmed, have been scheduled for Monday.

Justice Hameed and MP Ilham's hearings are scheduled for 11am at the Criminal Court, while MP Faris' hearing is set for 1pm.

While pre-trial hearings are currently ongoing, at the last hearing in Hameed's case, state prosecutor's said that he had been 'accepting bribes and issuing court ruling in the interest of particular persons since 2013'. Hameed is also charged with influencing judges of courts as well as obstructing and intervening in the work of state institutions.

Allegations against MP Faris include; conspiring to overthrow the government through the parliament since 2013, bribing fellow parliamentarians and judges of courts, as well as being involved in issuing Supreme Court's controversial ruling on February 1 and attempting to create chaos in the capital city with the assistance of then Police Commissioner Ahmed Areef.

Faris continues to refute the charges put forth against him, his lawyers note that the charges are 'obscure'.

MP Ilham had appealed on the court to annul the terror charges against him, noting that there is not enough evidence to raise terror charges against him, under the Penal Code. However, denying Ilham's appeals, the court decided to move forward with the case.
