Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that with Dr. Mahathir Mohamed's win in the Malaysian General Elections, the rule of President Yameen's 'corrupt' companions has fallen.

Congratulating the win of Malaysian opposition Pakatan Harapan and the coalition's leader Mahathir Mohamed, Dr. Jameel in a tweet wrote that this historic win should send a strong message to all Muslim nations including Maldives, that are besieged by corrupt and greedy ruler.

The tweet further reads that this again, proves that power comes from and belong to the people.

Dr. Jameel in a seperate tweet typed out in Dhivehi, wrote that President Yameen had brought historical harm to Maldive's treasury the way Najeeb Razak similarly had.

The former VP added that this shows proof that Maldives current administration will soon end with the grace of god.

Malaysia's ruling party lead by Najeeb Razak was ousted for the first time in the span of 60 years after Mahathir's opposition coalition won a historic victory in the country's General Elections.

Opposition leader Mahathir Mohamed is to be sworn in at 09:30pm Malaysian time (06:30pm Maldivian time) on Thursday, according to Singaporean daily newspaper, The Strait Times.
