The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has asked its members to inform the party secretariat ahead of any official meetings with foreign dignitaries.

In a statement released Wednesday, the party said its official meetings be a reflection of its current foreign policy and highlighted the importance of maintaining so.

MDP further expressed full commitment to delivering on the interests of all Maldivians as well as developing relations with the international community and upholding stability in the Indian Ocean region.

With presidential ballots slated for later this year, the party has kicked off its internal campaign to elect a party presidential candidate.
