Yumna Maumoon, daughter of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, is to be summoned to the police headquarters again on Tuesday,

Police had handed Yumna a police summons ordering her to present herself to police HQ at 04:30 pm on Tuesday, this time, with a legal representative.

Yumna had at her first summons on Monday evening, said that she would like to proceed with legal representation following which the police had given her one day to appoint a lawyer.

Upon being granted a day to appoint a lawyer, Yumna had told police that it would be a difficult task to complete within the span of a day.

"I told them I can appoint a lawyer within a day, it being a difficult task. As it has been known, three of my family members are currently in prison. These are busy days for law practitioners as Criminal Court trials are proceeding at a swift speed" said Yumna, speaking to the press outside the police HQ.

Yumna said that she will put in her best efforts to find a lawyer within the short period of time allocated to her, and that she was told to inform them through a letter once it is done.

Several leading officials of the joint opposition parties and joint parliamentary group as well as wives of some detained political leaders strung along with Yumna to the police HQ on Monday evening.

Although Yumna had in a letter addressed to acting Commissioner of Police Abdulla Nawaz appealed to change her summon date to the very next day due to the fact that her younger daughter was by herself since her husband's incarceration, the police had rejected her appeal.

Yumna was summoned to police following allegations of her involvement in bribery offered to parliament members and Supreme Court justices in an attempt to overthrow the government.
