Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's daughter Yumna Maumoon has requested the police commissioner to delay the police summons for Monday.

Yumna is to be summoned to police over her alleged hand in bribing officials to plan a conspiracy to overthrow the government.

In the letter typed out in Dhivehi addressed to acting Commissioner of Police Abdulla Nawaz, Yumna requests that the summons be postponed to Tuesday, as she is handling matters of her younger daughter on her own and her elder daughter is expected to arrive in Male' on Monday.

Yumna had posted a tweet on her official twitter account after having posted the appeal letter.

According to the notice by the police service, Yumna is to be summoned following her alleged involvement in bribing members of parliament and some justices at the Supreme Court to plan the overthrow of a legally established government.

Similar allegations are keeping her husband, Mohamed Nadheem, father, former Persident Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, and younger brother, MP Faris Maumoon behind bars.

Following the summons, lawyer Maumoon Hameed had on Monday chided authorities by saying that he does not think when the doctor advised President Maumoon to be kept with his family he meant to arrest the entire family.

Yumna is the last anti-government member of Maumoon's family that is not behind bars.

While Maumoon's son Ghassan has never been vocal in the call to free him from confinement, daughter Dunya Maumoon is torn between supporting her uncle, President Yameen and calling for the release of father Maumoon.
