Leaked testimonies: Justices Saeed and Hameed had influenced court rulings
Although the two witnesses are unspecified, their testimonies are similar to that of the statements given by two sitting judges to the police
Justice Hameed had instructed to bring amendments to the SC order on 01 February, ordering to release particular detainees later on

Two individuals have testified against Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed in Criminal Court under condition of anonymity.

The two evidently testified that the Justices had influenced court orders to issue rulings under their instructions.

The two had testified in a secret court proceeding held on Saturday in the trial of Justices Saeed and Hameed over allegations of exerting influence over judges at courts and influencing the official conduct of courts raised against them.

The witness said after the initial Supreme Court ruling on the 01st of February releasing nine high profile political leaders, Justice Hameed had instructed to bring amendments to the order to release particular detainees, through phone call later on.

While Saturday's court proceedings concluded all the testimonies needed by the state against Justices Saeed and Hameed, Judge presiding over the case said that next scheduled court proceeding in the case will be for the summary statement hearing which has been scheduled for 08th May, Tuesday after which, sentencing will follow.

Although the two witnesses are unspecified, their testimonies are similar to that of the statements given by two sitting judges to the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Adam Arif who is the Judge presiding over one of Saeed and Hameed's cases, also said in a statement that both Justices had influenced court rulings.

Similar testimonies were given by Civil Court Judge Mohamed Haleem a few days back.

Various testimonies given by officials regarding the investigation of the detainees arrested following the issuing of the Supreme Court ruling on the 01st of February, started circulating on social media on Tuesday.

MPS had at a press conference to address the issue, said that action will be taken against those who were actively involved in leaking said testimonies.
