Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb who was recently transferred to Maafushi Prison, has again been re-transferred to the island prison in Dhoonidhoo island.
According to the former VP's wife Mariyam Nashwa, Adeeb was transferred back to Dhoonidhoo island prison on Thursday.
In a tweet Nashwa had posted in Dhivehi in late Thursday afternoon, she mentions that the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) had transferred her husband to Dhoonidhoo following the sudden emergency situation in Maafushi prison under section 46 of the prisons and parole act.
She had in her tweet questioned the MCS on whether the emergency situation applies on her husband alone.
The Supreme Court had initially releassed a ruling releasing 9 political prisoners including Adeeb on the 1st of February following which the country had erupted into political turmoil.
Following the order jailed Member of Parliament for Dhiggaru constituency Ahmed Faris Maumoon and VP Adeeb had been boarded onto a speedboat for their release, however had later been deboarded.
