The Ministry of Gender and Family has called on the public to be wary of fraudulent phone calls circulating in the Ministry's name, seeking contributions for Kudakudhinge Hiya in Villimale' and Fiyavathi Shelter in Hulhumale'.

A press release published by the Ministry states that the Ministry had received information of 'a phone call scam on behalf of Kudakudhinge Hiya and Fiyavathi Shelter', seeking contributions.

The Ministry has confirmed through their statement neither Kudakudhinge Hiya nor Fiyavathi - both run by the Ministry of Gender and Family - 'does not conduct fundraising activities via phonecalls'.

It further appealed on the public to contact the Ministry or Maldives Police Service through 3322111 if anyone has any knowledge of these calls.

However, a police spokesperson told RaajjeMV that they have not received any such reports.
