Maldives preacher slams ex-Sudanese PM for awarding President Yameen

Dr Sadiq Al Siddiq Abdul Rahman Al Mahdi, who is a Sudanese political figure who served as Prime Minister, has come under fire for conferring an award of recognition to Maldives President Yameen for his involvement in promoting the true message of Islam.

The International Moderation Forum had conferred the award of Recognition to President Yameen on the 15th of April.

While several social media users have aimed their criticism at the former Sudanese PM, the most noticeable were criticisms directed at him by Maldivian scholar Adam Nishan bin Ali Adam through his official facebook page.

His statement written in dhivehi, reads that the people who are being presented before Maldivians to be praised for promoting the true meaning of islam and being scholars of the religion are secularists who have gone against the islam, contradicts religious theologies and follow the religion of democracy.

His facebook statement further accuses Al Mahdi of undermining the hijab, saying that Al Mahdi issued a fatwa which states that hijab is not compulsory in the religion, that women can be witnesses of a muslim marriage and that men and women can perform prayers shoulder to shoulder.

Nishan and several religious scholars have accused him of spreading misconceptions relating to Islam.

The post comes with an attachment of Al Mahdi's biography which reads that Al Mahdi is Imam of the Ansar, a sufi order that pledges allegiance to Muhammed Ahmad who claimes to be the Mahdi, the messianic saviour of Islam.

According to Nishan who is a well known preacher, Sudanese Fiqh Council's Secretary General Dr Adam Ibrahim had also confirmed this information,

Bin al yemen
It was clear from the sufi order of sadiq that he is not a man of islam. Awards and recognitions given by such a person should be looked upon in the same manner we look at the drawings our children give us.
