Government has ‘ruined the islands’: Dr Mausoom
He said that the government has failed in their responsibility to secure a safe and peaceful life for families living in the islands

Former Kelaa MP Dr Abdulla Mausoom has accused the government of wasting the citizens’ money and ruining the islands in the Maldives.
Dr Maumoon said this while speaking in a rally at opposition MDP’s campaign site near Artificial Beach.
He said that the government has failed in their responsibility to secure a safe and peaceful life for families living in the islands.
“We are seeing the households in the islands becoming empty. Due to the government’s policies, everyone is leaving the islands and coming to Male’. Every citizen is having to carry the burden of this decision. Maldivian citizens are having to make sacrifices because we have to live in Male’. We can’t sleep peacefully. We can’t walk outside. There is no humanity in the island.”
Dr Maumoon said the government has to enact adequate housing policies to solve the congestion problem in the capital city instead of building small flats and keeping the Maldivian population in a ‘bird cage’.
He concluded that military force is the only reason why such a failure as the current administration will last until November 11.
