Instead of following a court proceeding, this has become the tactic of the police toward those arrested at opposition rallies

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) activist Naeema Mohamed who was arrested at the Joint Opposition rally held Thursday night was released late Friday night, and arrested just mere minutes after her release.

Central-Maafannu Council Member Azra Moosa and MDP activist Mohamed Misbah have since been released.

Instead of following a court proceeding, this has become the tactic of the police toward those arrested at opposition rallies.

The four, including an unidentified youth were arrested at the intersection Majeedhee Magu and Chaandhanee Magu while the police had been attempting to disperse the protesters.

Demonstrators are mainly calling for the implementation of the Supreme Court ruling issued on the 01st of February for the release of political detainees and reinstatement of members of parliament who have been unseated, as well as the resignation of President Yameen and for the withdrawal of the State of Emergency declared on the 05th of February.
