The newly elected members of Malé City Council have been sworn in.

The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected council members was held on Wednesday morning.

Their oath was administered by Judge Mohamed Sameer.

The ceremony was held at Meerumaa Maalan in Henveiru-ward of the capital city.

The ceremony was joined by Malé City Mayor Adam Azim as well as Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar.

The by-elections to elect members to the vacant position in the city council, was held on July 20.

Main-ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) secured all three seats of the city council including the Hulhumalé seat, West Henveiru seat as well as Central Mahchangoalhi seat.

Ali Aiman won the Hulhumalé seat, with Fathimath Ishan Ali securing the Central Mahchangoalhi seat and Fathimath Shaufa Saleem winning the West Henveiru seat.
