The alert that was issued on Maafushi Prison upon Supreme Court's ruling on the 1st of February. has been lifted.
The Supreme Court had on the 1st of February ruled on the release of political detainees and several eminent figures in the political sphere which incumbent President Yameen had refused to implement, having declared a State of Emergency a few days later.
Maldives Correctional Services had evidently revoked the alert to Maafushi prison officers as well.
Maafushi Prison was brought to an alert on the 02nd of February upon Supreme Court's ruling on the 1st of February on the release of political detainees to avoid mayhem and acts of aggression within detainees that may have followed the ruling.
Additionally, family meetings had also been halted for security purposes.
According to a notice that had been put up in the prison by the MCS earlier today, the alert has been revoked starting Monday. The notice further acknowledges the co-operation of police officers, thanking them for their persevered support throughout the situation.
When contacted by RaajjeMV, the correctional service had not answered the station's calls.
