The first family of the Maldives has welcomed the firstborn grandson on Friday.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's daughter, Aadha Abdulla had given birth to a baby boy on the 2nd of March.

The first couple's daughter and son-in-law were reportedly in Thailand for her delivery and the first lady, Fathimath Ibrahim is to have flown to Thailand some time on Friday. 

While this is the first family's first born grandson, President Abdulla Yameen and First lady have a daughter and a son. 

The first family is overwhelmed with the blessing, and parliamentarians as well as citizens are flooding social media with felicitations and good wishes for the couple.
