Five arrested at Saturday night's protest in capital Male' have been released.
The opposition has been holding nightly rallies since President Yameen Abdul Gayoom's refusal to implement the supreme court order to release political prisoners.
Although the police are yet to confirm the matter, lawyer Nazim Abdul Sattar had revealed to RaajjeMV that the five were arrested on Saturday night's rally infront of MDP's national campaign house.
He had also confirmed that a couple were included within those arrested. One of the arrested had reportedly suffered a leg injury.
Nazim added that the five were arrested under the accusation of obstructing a law enforcement officer.
While last night's rally began infront of opposition MDP's national campaign house, police officers had begun dispersing the crowd a while into the protest. This led to the dispersal of the crowd through the capital's streets and their assemblance near JP's national campaign house Maafannu Kunooz later in the night.
Although the police had attempted to control the crowd, Saturday's rally had not died down even two hours after midnight.
