Fenaka Corporation had spent over MVR 1.3M on trips, details missing: ACC
Back in September, ACC confirmed it had launched an investigation into graft allegations against Fenaka
Concluding the investigation, ACC ruled that there was 'room for corruption' in the process
However, the case was not forwarded to the Prosecutor General (PG) Office for prosecution

The Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) has revealed that Fenaka Corporation had spent over MVR 1.3 million on office trips, but that the details of these trips 'are missing'.

ACC, back in September, confirmed that it had launched an investigation into graft allegations against the state utilities company. A case was filed against Fenaka at the ACC, over its expenses from 2014 to 2016, on the various trips by the company's senior officials.

Concluding the investigation, ACC ruled that there was 'room for corruption' in the process.

However, the case was not forwarded to the Prosecutor General (PG) Office for prosecution, with the Commission instead informing Fenaka to 'fix' certain issues.

According to ACC's report, MVR 881,172 was spent on the trips abroad, through payment vouchers. ACC noted that Fenaka Corporation had failed to prepare detailed reports on the trips, including on the expenses.

Despite the lack of these reports, ACC noted that documents 'show that the trips were made on official businesses,' including trainings, study tours and services for the company. It added that a six-member team had also traveled to India, to recruit employees.

Furthermore, ACC noted that there was no proof that the money taken for the trips was ever handed to those traveling, and whether there were any records of the amount taken for 'incidental expenses'.

ACC's report also revealed that MVR 456,030 was spent on trips across the Maldives, but that all the required reports regarding these trips were unavailable too.
