A finance ministry official said this is "a blatant lie"
The 2018 budget is expected to exceed this year's MVR 26.7 billion

The Finance Ministry has denied claims that it has yet to send in the details for the proposed state budget for 2018.

Some local news outlets have reported that the government had only submitted the proposed amount, and that it did not provide any details.

When questioned on the matter, a finance ministry official said that "this is a blatant lie", adding that they had submitted the required detailed report as well.

The official did not reveal any further information on the matter.

According to reports, the proposed state budget for 2018 was sent into parliament via a letter, with just an estimated amount.

While the ministry denied this, RaajjeMV also understands that the ministry is yet to send in details for the budget.

Parliamentarians have told local news outlets that they believe the budget for 2018 will be larger than the record MVR 26.7 billion passed for this year.
