Criminal Court has ordered to remand Afrah Abdul Razzaq, arrested in connection to the murder of Mohamed Anas, until the murder trial reaches sentencing.

He was arrested on October 9th while in hiding in the capital Malé City, after Maldives Police Service (MPS) launched a manhunt for him. Criminal Court had given him a 15-day remand then.

Back in September, police launched a manhunt for Afrah, and a second suspect, Mohamed Saaz of Th. Kinbidhoo. He was arrested in September.

However, charges are yet to be raised against them.

The state has raised charges against six individuals, including a minor. While police have not revealed details about the 17-year-old, he is charged with first-degree murder and his case is at the Juvenile Court.

The other six charged with the murder are: Ahmed Zayan, Usman Shareef, Junaih Abdulla, Hassan Mahfooz and Simah Moos. Zayan and Shareef are charged with first-degree murder, while the other three are charges with accessory.

Anas was stabbed to death by a group of masked assailants on the 31st of July. CCTV footage shows him running into Litus Service Center in attempt to flee from his attackers. The brutal attack took place inside the garage.
