A hearing in 3-yo Ibthihaal’s murder case scheduled for Monday

A hearing for the murder of three-year old Mohamed Ibthihaal is scheduled at the Criminal Court today.
Ibthihaal's death shocked the nation, after being found beaten to death on 28th January 2015, at his home in Rakeedhoo island of Vaavu atoll.
While Ibthihaal's mother Afiya Mohamed has been charged with murder, the last hearing in the case was held in March.
Afiya has confessed to physically abusing the toddler, even detailing the abuse in her statement. She said that she had strangled Ibthihaal while he was sleeping, and that she continued to physically assault him even after blood started coming out from his mouth. She also confessed to kicking him on the chest and beating him up.
Back in February, resident pediatrician at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Dr. Ahmed Nihan testified in Court that the toddler had died due to strangulation.
