Raising concerns over the independence and caliber of the judiciary, he alleged that political influence continues to permeate the courts. Furthermore, Meekail highlighted that investor confidence is being eroded due to judicial rulings consistently favoring the government's interests.

Member of Parliament for South Galolhu, Meekail Ahmed Naseem, has alleged that the current administration has returned millions in cash seized during raids on certain residences, and that the individuals involved are now at the forefront of the PNC's election campaign.
During Monday's parliamentary debate on the bill concerning assets acquired through criminal activity, MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem stated that the failure to enforce laws and seize stolen assets is not due to a lack of legislation. Meekail further noted that while bills could be submitted to Parliament daily, true sincerity would only be demonstrated when illicitly obtained assets are successfully recovered by the state.
Questioning the tangible outcomes achieved under existing laws and the Asset Recovery Commission, MP Meekail noted that the government continues to incur additional financial expenditures through various bills without any actual recovery of assets for the Maldives.
Highlighting the need to ensure a legal framework exists to support and enforce such legislation, MP Meekail stated that the current state of the judiciary must be carefully assessed before the bill can be effectively implemented.
The caliber of individuals appointed to the Maldivian judiciary has been steadily declining. It has now reached a point where this Parliament feels no shame in appointing those who were active on the front lines of political campaigns. Mr. Speaker, individuals who were seen wearing campaign ribbons and t-shirts, actively campaigning on the streets, are being appointed to the High Court, the Criminal Court, and other judicial tiers without any sense of hesitation or embarrassment.Meekail Ahmed Naseem
MP Meekail stated that the judiciary is operating in strict accordance with the directives of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration. He further noted that this lack of judicial independence is the primary reason why potential investors are hesitant to bring their capital into the Maldives.
Meekail stated that even under the current administration, authorities have recovered sums ranging from five hundred thousand to millions of rufiyaa during house raids. He noted that not only has this money now been returned, but the individuals involved are also being seen active in the campaign efforts of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).
