President Assures Malé Commercial Port Will Be Operational in Thilafushi by Next November

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has provided full assurance that the Malé Commercial Port will be relocated to Thilafushi and become operational by November 11 next year, as a spacious, fully equipped, state-of-the-art facility.
Speaking on Public Service Media’s (PSM) "Nation Chat" podcast on Wednesday night, President Muizzu detailed his vision for relocating the Male’ Commercial Port to Thilafushi. He noted that while 80 percent of port operations will be moved to Thilafushi, the remaining activities will be conducted at the Industrial Village in southwest Male’, where the Thilamale’ Bridge terminates. He further explained that the transport of containers via Ro-Ro ferries or landing crafts would be managed in a manner that avoids causing congestion within the capital city.
He stated that a digitized system would serve as the backbone of the port. He further noted that significant incentives would be offered to private investors to facilitate the establishment of retail outlets within the port operation areas of Thilafushi and the Male’ Industrial Village.
