Fazna appointed as Maldives' Chef de Mission for Commonwealth Games
The Maldives Olympic Committee has appointed Fazna Jaleel as the Chef de Mission for the Commonwealth Games; a veteran sports administrator, she has served as the President of the Netball Association since 2019 and previously held a career as a netball coach.

The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) has appointed Fazna Jaleel, President of the Netball Association, as the Chef de Mission for the Maldives at this year's Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth Games, held every four years, are scheduled to take place this year from July 23 to August 2. This year's edition of the Commonwealth Games will be hosted in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) has appointed Fazna Jaleel as the Chef de Mission for the Commonwealth Games. Fazna has served as the President of the Netball Association since 2019 and has a background as a netball coach. Additionally, she is a member of the MOC’s Executive Committee.
After a hiatus, the Maldives made its return to the Commonwealth Games in 2022. The country had previously lost the opportunity to compete in the Games following the decision by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration to withdraw from the Commonwealth in 2016.
However, the Maldives later rejoined the Commonwealth during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Following this reintegration, the country participated in the Commonwealth Games held in the United Kingdom in 2022.
