The Noorul Islam Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) has begun training the hospital staff at Kulhudhuffushi island of Haa Dhaalu atoll.

The government entered into agreement with the Indian company earlier this year to have it manage and develop the hospital.

The three-day program will train the staff in two shifts daily, with thirty trainees participating in each shift.

Vice Principal Josephine Eve of the Noorul Islam College of Nursing is to be one of the trainers in this program.

Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said at the ceremony where the project was handed over to NIMS, that the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital would have a bed-capacity of 150 within 16 months.
