The composition of the "Special Presidential Commission to Investigate the Incident in Malé on April 18" established by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to investigate the incident where Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed fell from the ninth floor of H. Fentenoy onto the roof of an adjacent warehouse in the early hours of April 18, has been changed, increasing the number of commission members to five.
Previously, the commission had three members including Dr. Mohamed Munavvar, Brigadier General Retired Ahmed Mohamed, and Dr. Mohamed Habeeb. However, Habeeb resigned from the commission due to his family ties with Raud Ahmed Zilal, who is the main suspect in the case.
Announcing the changes to the commission, the President's Office stated that the president has made changes to the commission established on April 27, to conduct an independent, impartial, and credible investigation into the case where a woman was found fallen on the roof of a house in capital Malé City on April 18, to determine the truth of the incident, to review the work done so far by relevant institutions regarding the case, to take necessary measures related to the case, and to investigate the matter fairly and justly and provide recommendations.
Dr. Mohamed Munavvar will chair the commission. The decree was issued on Monday while in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
According to Presidential Decree No. 11/2025, the commission will continue to exist until the president determines that the tasks assigned to the commission have been completed.
