Agreements have been signed to construct several mosques in various regions of the Maldives.
The agreements were signed at a special ceremony held at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs on Saturday.
In addition to signing agreements to construct two branches of the Quran Center and an Islamic Center, agreements were signed to construct 11 mosques.
On behalf of the Islamic Ministry, the agreement was signed by Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. On behalf of Fenaka Corporation Limited, the agreement was signed by the company's Managing Director Major (Rtd) Mohamed Najah, and on behalf of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the agreement was signed by the company's Managing Director DCP (Rtd) Ahmed Saudi.
The ministry revealed that while 11 projects have been assigned to Fenaka Corporation, three projects have been assigned to MTCC.
The Islamic Ministry stated that these are mosques being constructed at the government's expense. However, the government has not disclosed the costs of these projects.
In addition to this, the ministry stated that the Quran Centers will include three classrooms, a library, and a hall, and that the mosques will be equipped with solar panels and air conditioning and will have vinyl flooring. The ministry also stated that a Quran teaching class will be established in the mosque. Further, the ministry stated that the Islamic Center will include a prayer area, as well as a conference hall, library, and classroom.
