The Maldives Customs Service (MCS) has seized a large quantity of drugs that were attempted to be smuggled into the Maldives by sea.

Customs stated that the total weight of the seized items was 3.534 kilograms. These items were confiscated during a special operation conducted by Customs on the morning of 13 March 2025, to inspect a shipment that arrived in the Maldives by sea on 12 March 2025.

In the initial analysis of the seized drugs, 1,086 grams of Ketamine, 2,138 grams of Methamphetamine, and 310 grams of Heroin tested positive. The street value of the drugs seized in the case is approximately MVR 6.7 million.

The seized drugs have now been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) for further investigation.
