A group of lawyers have headed to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to seek additional information regarding the case of three suspended Supreme Court justices.
Several lawyers arrived at JSC around 10:30am on Thursday.
The lawyers have requested clarification on whether the lawyer representing the Bar Council at the commission participated in the meeting where the suspension of the three Supreme Court justices was discussed, and how they voted. They have also submitted a letter requesting details of said meeting.
The three justices were suspended on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, in connection with a case being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The justices on the commission representing the courts did not have time to attend the emergency meeting held at JSC to decide on the suspension.
The three suspended justices are justice Husnu Al Suood, justice Mahaz Ali Zahir and Dr. Azmiralda Zahir.
The JSC has stated that the justices were suspended after the ACC informed the commission via letter that they are investigating a corruption case related to the justices.
