Bank of Maldives (BML) has enabled transactions on online foreign money transfer platforms and digital wallets.
The country’s national bank announced this via a statement publicized on Sunday.
BML revealed that they have enabled transactions on previously blocked foreign merchants including selected money transfer platforms and digital wallets.
Customers can use BML’s Visa USD Credit Card or Mastercard Prepaid USD Travel Card to effortlessly send and receive funds from these platforms, with this change.
In addition to this, customers can also use BML-issued Debit card with a USD account as the card’s primary account, to transfer funds to these merchants.
Commenting on this change, CEO and MD of BML, Karl Stumke stated that the bank understands the importance of supporting freelancers and small merchants who rely on payments received from overseas for their livelihoods and well-being.
He expressed delight in the decision to enable this for the bank’s customers and described it as another step towards enhancing their banking and payment experience.
