Minister Thoriq receives Majlis approval

The People’s Majlis has greenlighted the appointment of Thoriq Ibrahim as Minister of Tourism and Environment.

Thoriq received unanimous approval from all 69 lawmakers who participated in the vote held on Monday.

After making changes to some ministries, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu recently merged the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy.

Thoriq was appointed as the minister of the newly merged Ministry of Tourism and Environment on 1 February 2025.

Prior to that, he was the Environment Minister in the Muizzu administration’s Cabinet of Ministers.

The Tourism Ministry and Environment Ministry were merged after Ibrahim Faisal, who previously served as the Tourism Minister, was dismissed from his position.
