1,139 tourist facilities operational by Wednesday

Maldives currently has a capacity of 1,140 tourist facilities, which include 154 safari vessels, 793 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 178 resorts. This means that of the total facility capacity, one resort has yet to resume operations.

1,139 tourist accommodation establishments are currently operational across the Maldives.

This was revealed by the latest weekly statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday.

As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of January 29, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sat at 1,139. The guesthouses span across 116 islands of 19 atolls, with hotels operational on nine islands of eight atolls and resorts operational across 177 islands of 19 atolls. 69 percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 23 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by safari vessels, and three percent by hotels.

Presently, a total of 61,838 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 177 resorts, 793 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 154 live-aboard vessels.

The beds operational across these facilities include 43,306 in resorts, 2,023  in hotels, 13,381 in guesthouses, and 3,128 in live-aboard vessels.
