Officers of the Maldives Immigration have begun to monitor areas where unrest among foreigners gathering in public places has become common.

Revealing this information, the immigration department noted in a post on social media platform ‘X’ that they are monitoring "due to recent incidents of public disturbances among foreigners gathering in public areas."

As such, it has been stated that officers from the Immigration's Enforcement and Compliance Division are monitoring such areas.

Immigration further stated that the agency will take measures to prevent the recurrence of acts that pose a threat to public interest.

It has been noted that monitoring of such areas where these incidents occur will be carried out continuously.

In addition to this, the department has stated that action will be taken if issues of foreigners staying illegally are identified.
