President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has claimed that the list of recipients of flats allocated under the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ homeowners scheme will be publicized before the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan.

A journalist accompanying Muizzu inquired about the flat list during his trip to Huvadhu Atoll. When inquired if the list will be publicized before Ramadan, Muizzu asserted that he strongly believes it will be done.

The president revealed that work is currently underway to do it as he had promised.

Noting that he brought a few changes, Muizzu said that they include assigning the housing ministry’s work to Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib. Further, he said that the work that has been done over the past year or so has also been reviewed, and work has now begun to do it as he had promised, as swiftly as possible.

The president, who has repeatedly claimed that he will not take away plots and flats from anyone who has received them, said on Thursday that there will be "exceptions" among those who received flats.

He said that flats and plots obtained through deception and using forged documents, as well as those who received plots and flats through corruption revealed in ACC investigations, will not receive plots and flats, but all others will receive flats and plots.

Several have been expressing dissatisfaction and protesting because the current government is withholding flats that were contracted and handed over by the former administration.
