MVR 31.9bn in, MVR 43bn out by November’s end
MVR 691 million rufiyaa was received in grants in the first 11 months

The Ministry of Finance has stated that the government received MVR 31.9 billion in revenue and aid by the end of November.

While MVR 31.9 billion in revenue was received, MVR 43 billion was exhausted. Of this, MVR 12.4 billion was spent as recurrent expenditure.

MVR 5.6 billion was spent on salaries by the end of November.

The ministry went on to reveal that during the same period last year, MVR 31.1 billion was received as revenue and grants.

By the end of November this year, MVR 12.9 billion was spent on capital expenditures.

The largest portion of revenue came from taxes paid. That is MVR 24.3 billion. Last year during this period, MVR 22.3 billion was received in taxes.

The largest share of tax revenue came from Goods and Services Tax (GST). That is MVR 13.2 billion. In addition to this, the ministry revealed that MVR 5.8 billion was received as Business and Property Tax (BPT), and MVR one billion was received as Airport Service Charge and Departure Tax.

Non-tax revenue for the first 11 months of this year was MVR seven billion. MVR 691 million rufiyaa was received in grants.
