Foreign Policy magazine has included him in the list of top global thinkers. This shows his growing influence on the global stage, and the statement also mentions that the UN "Champions of the Earth" award conferred to Nasheed recognizes him as "a voice for the vulnerable and poor who face the challenges of climate change".
Nasheed has in the past received the "Anna Lindh Memorial Fund Human Rights Prize" for his work on human rights and peaceful activism.
