Impressive victory for Nepal; scores 11 goals against Maldives

Maldives lost to Sri Lanka in the first match played on Friday. Maldives will be up against Bhutan, on October 24, in the final match of the group stage.

The match between Maldives and Nepal

The Maldives National Women's Football Team suffered an embarrassing defeat against Nepal in their second match of the Women's SAFF Championship.

Maldives lost its first game as well. Maldives lost to Sri Lanka in the match played on Friday. Sri Lanka won the match 1 – 0.

In their second match on Monday night, the Maldives lost to Nepal with a score of 11 – 0.

Nepal scored four goals in the first half of the match.

The winning team scored the other seven goals in the second half.

Nepal's goals were scored by Preeti Rai, Sabita Rana Magar, Rekha Poudel, Anita KC, and Amisha Karki.

Poudel scored five goals in the match and Rai completed a hat-trick.

The other players scored one goal each.

With this result, Maldives has lost the tournament and remains at the bottom of the group table with zero points.

Nepal and Bhutan, who defeated the Maldives in their respective games, have four points each with Nepal leading the group on goal difference.

Sri Lanka, who beat the Maldives in the first match, is in third place with three points.

Maldives will be up against Bhutan, on October 24, in the final match of the group stage.

This year's Women's SAFF Championship is being held at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal, from October 17 – 30.

The Maldives National Women's Football Team departed for Nepal on October 13 to participate in the tournament.

Seven countries are competing in the Women's SAFF Championship including host country Nepal, along with India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Maldives.

Maldives is in Group B with Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka.

Group A consists of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.

The first semi-final will be between the winner of Group A and the runner-up of Group B.

The second semi-final will be between the winner of Group B and the runner-up of Group A.
