Young athletes Amna Thazkiyah Mirsaad, Izyan Nazim, Meral Ayn Latheef and Mohamed Rihan Shiham have set new national records in swimming.
The Maldivian athletes broke the records after competing in the Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI) Short Course (25m) Age Group Swimming Championship held in Thailand.
Thazkiyah set four new national records, with Izyan setting two, Meral setting four and Rihan setting six.
Thazkiyah set new national records in the women's short course 100-meter freestyle event, women's short course 200-meter freestyle event, women's short course 50-meter freestyle event, and women's short course 200-meter individual medley event.
Izyan set new national records in the men's short course 100-meter breaststroke event and men's short course 200-meter breaststroke event.
Meral set new national records in the women's short course 100-meter butterfly event, women's short course 200-meter butterfly event, women's short course 50-meter butterfly event, and women's short course 100-meter individual medley event.
Rihan set new national records in the men's short course 100-meter backstroke event, men's short course 50-meter backstroke event, men's short course 100-meter butterfly event, men's short course 200-meter butterfly event, men's short course 50-meter butterfly event, and men's short course 200-meter freestyle event.
